Critical Thinking and Interpersonal Communication

Soft Skills are so important in education and truthfully are lacking after the Pandemic among educators; specifically dealing with each other, and working with each other as a team. Some educators have lost many Soft Skills.

Two Skills that faculty and staff may need some brushing up on and I have been asked by school systems to instruct are; Critical Thinking and Interpersonal Communication.

According to 1 Sam. 16:7 Man sees what appears to the eyes, but Jehovah sees into the heart. How does this apply to teacher training?

We can't see into the heart of course; however, we all have the tendency to judge others by their outward appearance and work position. But you only learn little from this. We must learn and use the Soft Skills of Critical thinking and Interpersonal communication. By using critical thinking we evaluate people, as to their best qualities, what is important to them, how they work, and how they deal with others day to day. I call this "Reading the Room" because it applies to every educator/staff member in a school. By listening attentively and fully understanding what others are doing in the "moment" will benefit you when working with fellow educators/staff members at school. And if we don't try to look beneath outward appearance or ignore others’ verbal and physical cues we may come off as not respecting our colleagues’ viewpoint, time, or their position.

Interpersonal Communication is how we interact with each and make positive impressions even when situations may not be the best. Basically using common sense. These are some of the top soft skills corporations expect out of their workers and train them in periodically. And educational institutions should be aware that educators need training in Soft Skills also. This is where I can help with Soft Skills training that includes role-playing, Q & A sessions, and resources that help educators become high performing with their students and co-workers. info@ultradidactic.com
